Prickly Mitt

The Prickly Mitt is a 5.5 x 7 inch small applicator with pressure tips applied to cushioned (soft) cotton based mitt. The Prickly Pad Mitt can be used to alleviate muscle and joint pain, shoulder tension, headache, etc. Place the mitt on your hand and apply it to the treatment area, holding it in place for 40 to 60 seconds, alternately pressing and releasing every ten seconds. To increase treatment effect, actively manipulate the muscles in the application area by flexing and releasing. Treat area for five to fifteen minutes. See examples below:

Inflatable Prickly Pillow

The Prickly Pillow is an 8 x 14 inch applicator with pressure tips applied to inflatable cotton based pad. It can be used to alleviate pain in the cervical spine, the neck area and to alleviate or mitigate headache pain. Place the pillow from the lower to the upper neck area including the upper shoulder and lean on the pad (e.g., place the pillow on a couch or armchair back and lean on it) or lie down on the pad (e.g. place the pillow on a bed or exercise mat and lie down on it as shown in the picture below-left). You can also hold the Prickly Pillow against your neck, as shown in the picture below-right. Maintain the position for ten to twenty-five minute. If you treat a spot continuously for ten to fourteen days, it is recommended that you stop using the Prickly Pad for an equivalent amount of time to give your body a rest.

Prickly Pad

The Prickly Pad is 8" x 14" and is used to alleviate muscle pain, muscle spasm, muscle hardening, joint pain and joint stiffness. For muscle pain apply the small applicator directly on the sore area (naked skin) and press strongly with your hands for 40 to 60 seconds, increasing the pressure on the mat every ten seconds. Flexing and releasing the muscles within the application area increases the effectiveness of the applicator. The pad may also be applied to the sore area for a longer period of time. To do this it should be fastened with an elastic band or by some other means. Apply the Prickly Pad to the soles of your feet to eliminate cramps and to relax the feet. It will also increase blood circulation.

To treat joint pain and stiffness the applicator pad is applied on the front and side areas of joint, making sure that the acupressure tips don't pressure the nerve fibers or blood vessels (in the back of the knee, armpit, groin, or inside of the elbow). Those applicable tips should be covered with a thin towel or gauze. The same applies if there is not enough tissue between skin and bones (i.e., hip bones, knee caps, elbow's funny bone, etc.). With moderate pressure applied, the Prickly Pad™ may be fastened with an elastic band (ACE bandage). Treat area for about 30-40 minutes. After treatment for 10 to 14 days, a rest period of 10-14 days is recommended

With the applicator pad on the knee joint, you may lie down on your back on the Prickly Mat™ for about 30 minutes. This not only results in relaxation but also improves your general feeling of wellness.

Prickly Mat

The Prickly Mat is used to alleviate a variety of back pain including lumbago. You should lie down on the mat, which should be on a soft base (like a bed or sofa), for 15 to 60 minutes depending on your physical condition. Initially, to grow accustomed to the treatment, the mat can also be placed on a chair and leaned upon. It is recommended that the treatment lying on your back be done regularly for 10 to 15 days prior to bedtime. While lying on the applicator the discomfort of the pressure points should diminish after the first 1-2 minutes. This will change to a warm, relaxing feeling which is sustained throughout the period of the treatment. The skin reddens from treatment with the applicator, which is quite normal. The Prickly Mat is a 15 x 27 inch applicator with

Additional Tips for Getting the Most from Prickly Pad

  1. The more you can relax during treatment, the faster you will notice the therapeutic effect.
  2. The first two or three applications you may experience slight amount of discomfort from the Prickly Pad's pressure points requiring acclimatization. However, after a short period (1 to 2 minutes) the discomfort should go away and be replaced by a warming sensation and skin reddening.
  3. After treatment for 10 to 14 days, a rest period of 10-14 days is recommended so as not to diminish the effectiveness of the acupressure applicator.
  4. The skin reddening resulting from applying the applicator is part of the therapeutic effect.
  5. The applicator may also be used in conjunction with and to complement other traditional treatment modalities.

The Prickly Mat™ may also be used to complement traditional treatment methods.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: For hygienic reasons, only one person should use any given acupressure applicator. Use of a regular soap or detergent is sufficient to clean and disinfect the applicator.
