The Aquasana
Whole House Water Filter effectively filters out chlorine, chloramine,
synthetic chemicals like VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), THMs (Trihalomethanes), and
SOCs (Synthetic Organic
Chemicals), microscopic sediments, bad taste
and odors, plus 40-60% of fluoride, with these four filters:
 Sediment Prefilter.
The sediment pre-filter uses a replaceable cartridge that mechanically
filters down to five microns. This important pre-filter removes sediment that may be in the water supply so that it doesn't clog
the main filter and reduce water flow and filter life.
Stage 1: KDF55.
KDF55 is a natural
media made of zinc and copper where granules are fused together by the
process of water atomization. This combination creates an active filtration
method, possessing a characteristic known as redox potential. This
process effectively reduces chlorine taste and odor from tap water. By
removing the chlorine and pre-conditioning the water, this stage allows
maximum performance from the final stages. NOTE: The Rhino Whole House for
Well Water uses KDF85, which is designed to remove more iron and sulphur.
Stage 2: Mesh Coconut Shell Carbon.
This stage uses a 20/50 mesh coconut shell carbon for maximum reduction of synthetic
chemicals like VOCs, THMs and SOCs in the water.
Stage 2: Bituminous Carbon. This stage further enhances taste and clarity
with bituminous charcoal.
