Drugs That Interfere with
Calcium Absorption and Metabolism

The following drugs interfere with the calcium metabolism, either depleting calcium or limiting its absorption into the system. If you are on any of these drugs, it may be necessary to increase your calcium supplementation by a capsule or two.

  • Loop diuretics
  • Magnesium and Aluminum Antacids
  • Potassium-Sparing Diuretics
  • Digoxin-(animal studies only)
