Can Air Ionizers Offer Asthma and Allergy Relief?
The stuff floating in the air is 80% dead skin and over 350 different
allergy producing air pollutants and contaminants, including cigarette,
cigar an pipe smoke, germs, bacteria, viruses, mold, mildew and fungi,
pollen, house dust and dust mites, odors from smoke, pets, mold, mildew,
exhaust fumes, food, body sweat, chemical gases (formaldehyde,
benzene, etc.) from new carpets, furniture, cleaning products, solvents,
furnishings, dry cleaning and construction.
The effects of breathing this allergy
producing air pollution include dizziness, irritability, coughing,
sneezing, dry eyes, hay fever, allergies, asthma symptoms, sinus problems,
ear infections, depression, fatigue, headaches, nausea, breathing problems,
respiratory infections, etc. In fact, according to the Environmental
Protection Agency:
20%
of all employees have a major illness related to indoor air pollution
such as allergy, asthma, autoimmune diseases, etc.
Billions
of dollars are spent annually for medication to help Americans
breathe or cure their respiratory illnesses.
EPA
estimates an 18% annual production loss to American business due
to poor indoor air quality.
What Is the SOLUTION for Indoor Air Pollution?
Physicians
are now discovering that the solution to the problems of many of
these people is not in medicine but in reducing the pollutants in
the air people breathe. But mere filtration is insufficient. Filters
only create a breeding ground for pathogens, like molds, bacteria
and dust mites and do nothing to combat chemicals or odors. What's
more, a filter can only 'clean' the air that passes through it.

Better and More Effective Ionizers
What
Are Ions?
Ions
are natural particles in the air that have either a positive or negative
charge. They get this charge by either losing or gaining an electron.
Negative ions are the good guys -- they are simply oxygen atoms that
have gained an electron. They attach themselves to airborne particles
such as dust, pollen, smoke and dander, causing them to drop from
the air.
Nature
provides both positive and negative ions in abundance, but when it
comes to feeling good, it's the negative ions that are important. See
Negative Ion Studies
The
best natural generator for negative ions is lightning, followed by
ocean surf and waterfalls. Negative ions are also abundant in mountains
and forests, since all plants give off some ions. In clean, natural
air, you'll find very high concentrations of negative ions.
Negative
Ions can be actively produced by high voltage electricity run through
metal needles, or passively, as a byproduct of when ozone is created
by corona discharge or UV
light. Needlepoint ionization is by far the most effective
way to produce high volume negative ions. However, negative ions
have a very short life (2 - 6 minutes) and die before they can circulate
completely throughout a dwelling, which is why a negative ionizer
will only treat a single room. Also, a high-powered ion generator
will produce what has been termed "black wall", a black
dust that settles on surfaces, in particular around the ion generator.

profession is that of a Respiratory Therapist,
and after only 12 hours of use can tell a difference." --

Surround
Air Ionizers Prevent "Black Wall"
Surround
Air Ionizers prevent the "black wall" effect
because
the fan creates airflow to dissipate the negative ions more effectively
so there isn’t a large density located at the front of the unit and
it also causes airflow and hence it’s particulate to go through the
filters and be collected there, not on the surface near the air purifier.
How
Do Negative Ions Clean the Air?
Negative
ions clean the air by magnetically attracting to pollutants until
these newly-formed larger particles become too heavy to remain in
the air you breathe. Surround Air Ionizers continually produce negative
ions, so even if one of these fallen particles is kicked up into
the air, it is quickly removed again. The most important thing,
though, is that they are taken out of the air, preventing you from
inhaling them into your lungs, which is how they cause problems.

"I
love them! I cannot overstate this enough. I have been so impressed
[with the XJ-3000C].
My house is now dust-free. I have no smell or sight of mold. I've
had no side effects from the purifiers either. Very interestingly,
my family no longer passes viral illnesses amongst one another. If
one of my sons picks up a virus or something at school, neither I
nor the other child contract it now that we use the Surround Air
purifiers. Before this, like in every other house, if one family
member became sick, everybody would."
