Cleansers are the first step in any beauty routine because they remove makeup, dead cells, oil, perspiration and pollution. They also unclog pores.
Use tonics immediately after cleansing. Tonics feed the skin with nutrients and prepare the skin to better absorb serums and moisturizers.
Treatment serums are for specific problems. There are no rules as to how many serums you can use or how often, although some combinations are more effective than others. Generally, the order of application treatments is eye serum and creams, spot treatments, serums and moisturizing creams. Vitamin A Liposome Serum enhances the effectiveness of other treatment serums and creams and can be used before or after any of the following:
Moisturizing creams follow all appropriate treatment serums and can be finished off with a hydrosol mist.
Hydrosols are the perfect gentle finish. Close your eyes and spray a fine mist on your skin to set your makeup or to refresh your skin anytime. Enjoy incredible softness, healing and hydration.
The following products are used on an as needed basis and can be used on the face or anywhere on the body.
We have grouped Abbey St. Clare products into categories to help you find those products that can treat specific skin care problems. Most Abbey St. Clare product can treat multiple problems, which is summarized within each product's description. Find the category that represents your most important issues, then supplement those products with products that can treat a broader range of skin problems or issues.
Acne and Blemished Skin - Spot Remover judiciously applied, or a thin layer applied over a larger area anywhere on the face or body, will work to clean out pores, subdue inflammation, heal active blemishes, and prevent blemish formation by stopping it in its tracks. These products help heal and repair as well as prevent future outbreaks and reduce inflammation. See list of products to treat acne and blemished skin
Damaged Skin - Repair dull, dry, irritated rough textured, wrinkled, uneven toned skin damaged from the environment, excess sun exposure, smoking, over exfoliation and harsh products. See list of products to rejuvenate damaged skin
Discoloration, Age Spots and Hyper-pigmentation - Skin discolorations can manifest as blotchy, uneven patches of brown spots to gray discoloration or freckling on your face, neck, hands or other areas. All products that contain Vitamin C even out skin tone and lighten age spots and other areas of discoloration. See list of products to lighten discolorations
Dry, Dehydrated Skin - Normal, healthy skin is coated in a thin layer of natural lipids, or fatty substances, which keeps in moisture, leaving the skin soft and supple. Dry skin can develop as a result of environment toxins or products being used on the skin that strip away these fatty oils, leaving your skin unprotected.Less often, the cause dry skin is internal, being stimulated by a health condition or genetic predisposition. While topical treatments cannot improve the internal health condition, they can help improve dry skin. See list of products to improve dry skin
Eczema and Psoriasis - Eczema is a skin condition that cause skin to become red, irritated and itchy, and to sometimes develop small, fluid-filled bumps that become moist and ooze. Psoriasis is a condition that occurs when skin cells grow too quickly, causing new skin cells to form in days rather than weeks. Because the body doesn't shed these excess skin cells, they pile up on the surface of the skin and lesions form. See list of products to improve eczema and psoriasis
Eye Wrinkles, Puffiness and Dark Circles - The rule of thumb is that serums are most effective for relieving facial lines (wherever they occur) and creams are more effective for puffiness and dark circles. Your individual circumstances will guide you. Use a serum and a cream together for maximum effectiveness, moving towards just one or the other as the situation corrects itself. Creams are often preferred for daytime use and the serums for nighttime repair. See list of products to treat the eye area
Firm Sagging Skin, Increase Elasticity - Loss of firmness is the most difficult of the aging symptoms to reverse. The creams will decrease depth or occurrence of wrinkles and are particularly formulated with anti-inflammatory firming ingredients. See list of products to firm skin and increase elasticity
Oily, Shiny Skin - Oily skin is caused by over-active sebaceous glands, that produce a substance called sebum, a naturally healthy skin lubricant. When the skin produces excessive sebum, it becomes heavy and thick in texture. Oily skin is typified by shininess, blemishes and pimples. The oily-skin type is not necessarily bad, since such skin is less prone to wrinkling or other signs of aging, because the oil helps to keep needed moisture locked into the outermost layer of skin.
The negative aspect of the oily-skin type is that oily complexions are especially susceptible to clogged pores, blackheads and buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Oily skin can be sallow and rough in texture and tends to have large, clearly visible pores everywhere, except around the eyes and neck. The goal of treating oily skin is to remove excess surface sebum without complete removal of skin lipids. See list of products to treat oily skin
Redness, Irritation Over-Exfoliated Skin - Sometimes skin can get irritated and red from over-exposure to sun or weather or over-use of products, especially exfoliation. The first rule is to prevent additional irritation, then use products that can sooth and heal stressed, irritated skin. See list of products to treat red, irritated, over-exfoliated skin
Rosacea - Rosacea requires a synergy of anti-inflammatory essential oils that can be effective for many in clearing the redness that marks this delicate condition. Anti-inflammatory oils included in Aniba cleanser, toner, and serum are aimed at reducing the causes and symptoms. See list of products to treat rosacea
Scars - Scars are difficult and take time to vanish, but small amounts of these blends, several times a day, will help fade and heal scars from trauma or surgery. For fresh wounds, start application as soon as the skin has closed and is no longer raw. Older scars take much longer to fade. See list of products to diminish scars
Sensitive Skin - Sensitive skin includes overreaction to cosmetics or skin care products that results in rashes, red blotch patches, itchiness, flushed skin, a lingering uncomfortable tingling, tightening of the skin without visible signs, burning, puffy or watering eyes or hyper-sensitivity to essential oil scents. See list of products for sensitive skin
Skin Tags - Skin tags are common but harmless skin growths found on the eyelids, neck, chest, wrists, armpits, and groin. The treatments can include freezing them off, cutting them off (see your physician for this), tying off the tag with a thin piece of thread at the base to cut off oxygen supply or applying essential oil synergies. See list of products to treat skin tags
Wrinkles and Facial Lines - Wrinkles and lines are the result of aging, environmental influences, smoking, excessive sun exposure, drugs, poor diets and insufficient sleep, conditions that lead to thinner skin, free-radical damage and diminished collagen production. With proper sleep, diet and skin care treatments, the aging of skin can be reversed. Abbey St. Clare serums are excellent for relieving overall dryness and diminishing wrinkles. The creams will decrease depth or occurrence of wrinkles and are particularly formulated with anti-inflammatory firming ingredients. While fine lines can diminish relatively rapidly (in a few days or weeks) after initial use, dermal effects, deep lines and wrinkles, require a longer time frame, several weeks or months. See list of products to treat wrinkles and lines
Deep Penetrating Red and Infrared Light Therapy is the most advanced, non-invasive
home wrinkle treatment system available to diminish the appearance of fine
lines, wrinkles, creases, furrows, crow's-feet and the visible signs of facial
aging. Red light stimulates and activates skin cells and promotes blood circulation.
Visible red light penetrates to a depth of about 8-10 mm, and is beneficial
in treating problems close to the surface such as wounds, cuts, scars, trigger
and acupuncture points, and isparticularly
effective in treating infections. Invisible red light (infrared) is the longest
wave length, and penetrates to a depth of about 30-40 mm, which makes it more
effective for bones, joints, deep muscles, etc. Infrared light is absorbed
by the skin and used as a source of energy to stimulate fibroblast cell activity
in the skin, which increases the production of collagen and elastin the proteins
responsible for your skin's tone and elasticity. Most infrared LED lights produce
both red and infrared wavelengths, and are effective for rejuvenating aging
skin as well as treating acne and blemishes. This device is also approved by
the FDA for minor pain relief. more
